How Robrics interviews work

Every position on Robrics is built from one or more interview rounds. Each round can run in a different mode - an AI-led interview, a live video interview, or a hands-on exercise - so you can mix automated screening with human judgement without leaving the platform. This guide walks through setting up rounds, choosing a mode for each one, what the candidate sees, and what you do afterward. You don't need to be technical or know the role to follow it.

1

Set up your position's rounds

When you create a position, you choose how many interview rounds it has (from one to five). You can set a deadline for each round, and decide whether the position is a public listing anyone can apply to, or invite-only where you send candidates a personal link. Each round is independent - you might run an AI screen first, then a live video round for shortlisted candidates, then a hands-on exercise for finalists.

2

Choose an interview mode for each round

For every round, you pick one of three modes. Here's what each one does.

AI interview

The AI asks role-specific questions based on the job description and the candidate's resume, records the candidate's spoken or typed answers, and scores them automatically against a structured rubric. No human interviewer is needed - the round runs on the candidate's own time.

Live video (Human mode)

You interview the candidate face-to-face inside Robrics - the video call, scheduling, and confirmation all happen in the platform, with no external scheduling or video tool. After the call, the AI transcribes the conversation and produces a supporting analysis (strengths, concerns, and dimension-level observations) to help you fill in your own manual scorecard. The AI analysis never auto-fills or replaces your score.

Hands-on exercise

You point the candidate to an external coding or assessment platform you already use - Robrics doesn't run the exercise itself. You add a link to the exercise and any instructions the candidate needs. When the candidate submits their work on that external platform, you evaluate it inside Robrics using the same manual scorecard as a live video round.

3

What the candidate experiences

  • AI interview. The candidate opens their interview link, reviews a short AI disclosure, and answers questions on their own time. They can record spoken answers or type them. There is no live interviewer on the call.
  • Live video. The candidate receives a proposed interview time. They confirm it or ask to reschedule, then join the video call directly inside Robrics at the scheduled time - no app to install or external link to chase.
  • Hands-on. The candidate sees the exercise link and your instructions, completes the work on whatever platform you've pointed them to, and returns to Robrics to mark the round as submitted.
4

What you do afterward

  • AI interview - auto-scored. Robrics scores the round automatically the moment the candidate finishes. You review the score, the dimension breakdown, and any integrity signals, then decide whether to advance, offer, or reject - or override the AI's recommendation with a documented reason.
  • Live video - manual scorecard + AI transcript analysis. After the call, you'll find an AI-generated transcript analysis alongside the recording. Use it as a reference to complete your own manual scorecard - it highlights strengths and concerns but never fills in the score for you. Your scorecard is the decision.
  • Hands-on - manual scorecard. Review the candidate's submission on the external platform, then complete the same manual scorecard inside Robrics. No AI is involved in evaluating the exercise.

In every mode, the final hiring decision is yours. AI scores are advisory only, and you can override any recommendation with a documented reason.
